Here's a twist on the classic caramel apple. Instead of having the caramel on the outside, it's on the inside. Yum!

Directions

  1. Cut the apples in half.
  2. Remove the stems and seeds, and scoop out enough apple to create a small bowl for the caramel sauce (don't scoop too much or the apple wall will get too thin).
  3. Brush the apples with lemon juice.
  4. Dry each apple with a paper towel.
  5. In a small saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together, then add the cereal and stir well.
  6. Unwrap the caramel candies and place them in a medium saucepan; heat them along with the water, stirring constantly until melted (don’t cook them too long or they will get hard). Remove from the heat.
  7. Pour the caramel sauce into each apple bowl.
  8. Place a spoonful or two of the cereal mixture on top of the caramel.
  9. Serve and enjoy!
  10. Optional: You can cut the apples into wedges, if you prefer, but then you'€™ll want to leave off the cereal topping.
