Here's a twist on the classic caramel apple. Instead of having the caramel on the outside, it's on the inside. Yum!
Ingredients
Directions
-
Cut the apples in half.
-
Remove the stems and seeds, and scoop out enough apple to create a small bowl for the caramel sauce (don't scoop too much or the apple wall will get too thin).
-
Brush the apples with lemon juice.
-
Dry each apple with a paper towel.
-
In a small saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together, then add the cereal and stir well.
-
Unwrap the caramel candies and place them in a medium saucepan; heat them along with the water, stirring constantly until melted (donât cook them too long or they will get hard). Remove from the heat.
-
Pour the caramel sauce into each apple bowl.
-
Place a spoonful or two of the cereal mixture on top of the caramel.
-
Serve and enjoy!
- Optional: You can cut the apples into wedges, if you prefer, but then you'll want to leave off the cereal topping.
