Your family (and your wallet) will thank you for whipping up this quick weeknight meal! Reminiscent of classic fast food fish sandwiches — but better tasting and better for you — this recipe gives you perfect fillets every time, crunchy on the outside and tender on the inside. Using the air fryer also means a side of crispy fries for everyone, with less oil and less mess than deep frying! For great values each week, be sure to check out the Food Lion flyer before you shop and try our trusted brands, like Nature’s Promise, Food Lion brands, and Taste of Inspirations.

Directions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 380°F for 4 minutes and coat with cooking spray. Add the coating mix to a resealable plastic bag. Brush both sides of the fillets with mustard and add them to the bag. Shake until well coated.
  2. Place the coated fillets in a single layer into the fryer. Lightly coat the fillets with more cooking spray. Cook, flipping the fish half way through until golden brown and the fillets easily flake apart, about 15-18 minutes. While still hot, top each fillet with a slice of cheese. Keep hot until ready to use.
  3. Heat the air fryer to 400° F. Working in batches, place the french fries in an even layer into the air fryer basket. Cook, shaking the basket halfway through until golden brown and crisp, about 10 minutes. Repeat with the remaining french fries and zucchini fries.
  4. Spread about 1 tablespoon of the tartar sauce on both sides of the buns. Top each bottom bun with the cooked fillets, lettuce, onion, tomato, pickles and top bun. Serve with french fries, zucchini fries, cole slaw, potato chips and soda.

Substitute: Substitute another kind of white fish fillets like flounder, cod or halibut for the tilapia!
