Halloween season can be pretty expensive, especially if you agreed to attend multiple parties. 

One of the easiest and most affordable ways to dress up for Halloween is with makeup. Here are four ideas that use products you already have at home or can quickly buy at your local grocery store.

Skeleton

Materials Needed

Foundation, your shade

Black eyebrow pencil

White eye shadow

Dark (Charcoal) eye shadow

Black liquid eyeliner

Mascara or fake eyelashes

Blush

White Eyeliner Pencil or white face paint

Instructions

  1. Apply the foundation to your face and neck; set with powder
  2. Apply top and bottom false eyelashes, optional
  3. Apply the dark (charcoal) eye shadow on lower half of upper eyelid and just under the lower lashes as shown in the picture
  4. Using the black liquid eyeliner, draw a thick line on top and bottom of your eyelids; wing out for dramatic effect
  5. Apply mascara liberally to eye lashes
  6. Highlight your brow bone, underneath your eyebrows, with white eye shadow
  7. Darken your eyebrows with the black eyebrow pencil
  8. Warm the apples of your cheeks with blush
  9. Color your nose with black liquid eyeliner as shown in picture
  10. Use white eyeliner pencil or white face paint to fill in the spaces for the teeth above and below lips
  11. Draw a black line over lips from cheek to cheek with the black eyebrow pencil as shown in the picture
  12. Draw black lines between teeth and fade the black lines and white teeth edges using a thin, clean eye shadow brush

Comic Book Character

Materials Needed

Foundation, a couple shades lighter than your skin tone

Black liquid eyeliner

Bright blue or purple eye shadow

Black mascara or fake eyelashes

Red lip liner pencil

Red lipstick

White eyeliner pencil

Instructions

  1. Apply the foundation to your face and neck, set with powder
  2. Apply bright blue or purple eye shadow and, for a dramatic pop, add a darker blue circle to the center of the eye lid
  3. Curl natural eyelashes, or as another option, apply fake eyelashes for an enhanced dramatic look
  4. Use eyeliner and mascara liberally to fill in lashes and lash line
  5. Accent the following areas with black liquid eyeliner for a comic outline look, as shown in picture:
    • Eyebrows: Fill in and accent between the eyebrows
    • Nose: Line upper nose between the eyes, down the center, around and inside your nostrils
    • Cheekbone and jaw line
    • Neck and collarbone
    • Lips
  6. Using a red pencil lip liner, apply dots of even size and distance on your face for the comic book effect
  7. Apply Red Lipstick – add a white spot at the center of the lower lip for dramatic effect and touch up lip outline with liquid eyeliner as needed

Vampire

Materials Needed

Light foundation or face paint

White Powder

Dark (charcoal) Eye Shadow

Red Lipstick

Instructions

  1. Lighten skin with light foundation or face paint on the face, ears, neck, and upper chest, and set with white powder
  2. Darken eyebrows with black pencil
  3. Apply charcoal eye shadow to the lower part of the eyelid; blend gradually to the upper portion of the eyelid, around the eye, and just below the eye
  4. Create hollowed out cheeks by blending charcoal eye shadow from just below the apples of your cheeks to the corners of your mouth
  5. Apply red lipstick to bottom lip with blood-like drops down your chin for added effect, as shown in picture

Deer

Materials Needed

Foundation, your shade

Concealer, light shade

Mascara or fake eyelashes

Bronzer

White eye shadow

Brown eyebrow pencil or filler

Black eyeliner

Pink/Nude gloss

Instructions

  1. Apply the foundation to your face and blend into your neck; set with powder
  2. Apply black eyeliner; give yourself a cat eye and line your upper lids and inside corners of your eyes to make them appear bigger
  3. Apply white eye shadow to the upper and lower lids and in the corners of your eyes, outline below lower lids with black eyeliner, as shown in picture
  4. Add fake eyelashes to top and bottom, and/or apply mascara liberally to lashes
  5. Apply a generous amount of bronzer across your forehead, temples, and apples of your cheeks
  6. Apply small dots of light concealer across your forehead and cheeks
  7. Blend your concealer with the bronzer under your eyes and down the bridge of your nose and up your forehead
  8. Use black eyeliner to fill in bottom of your nose, as shown in picture
  9. Fill in your brows and bring the filler down the sides of your nose in two lines
  10. Finish with pink or nude lip gloss
