Homemade Fall Face Masks
You may just have all the ingredients you need in your kitchen right now to make yourself a healthy, natural face mask that’ll perk up and destress your skin. Have leftover pumpkin from holiday baking? Put that pumpkin to good use on your face. Have some coffee grounds that shouldn’t go to waste? Mix it in with your favorite coconut oil and revive your skin. We have the recipes to help you make the best of your skin, thanks to Mother Nature, and your pantry.
Brighten Your Skin: Make your skin fresh and glowing using pumpkin puree, honey, and lemon juice (a natural skin lightener and great for age spots). Whisk together the following:
- 1 tablespoon pumpkin puree
- 1 tablespoon raw honey
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
Use your fingers, or a clean makeup brush to spread the facial mask evenly while avoiding eyes. Leave it on up to 10 minutes and rinse off. Your skin will be brighter, tighter, and feel clean and fresh.
Wake Up Your Skin: If you have two common ingredients, coffee and coconut oil, in your pantry right now, you could reverse sun damage and make your skin glow. Coffee sloughs away dead skin cells and makes your face smooth. It’s even said to minimize lines and wrinkles on your face. Coffee on its own stimulates the skin, improves facial blood flow, and increases the production of collagen. To make this scrub and mask, opt for organic coffee beans (less chemicals) in your coconut oil.
- Mix ½ teaspoon coconut oil with ½ teaspoon finely ground coffee beans.
- Apply mixture to face with gentle circular motions.
- Leave on for up to an hour.
- Rinse completely with warm water.
Moisturize Your Skin: Oatmeal, made with milk and honey, is not only a delicious breakfast, it’s also one of the best moisturizing face masks you can make yourself. Honey does not irritate skin, instead, it manages breakouts while moisturizing your face. For this mask, you need:
- ½ cup uncooked oatmeal
- ¼ cup water
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tablespoon pure honey
Mix the ingredients in a small pan and cook for around 5 minutes over medium heat. Stir frequently. Let cool down before applying. First, apply a layer of plain honey on a clean face. Then apply the oatmeal mask using upward strokes. Let it set as you lay down for 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with a soft wash cloth and warm water to reveal your naturally glowing complexion.
