Organic Breakfast Idea #1: Seasonal Veggie Egg Scramble

One of the secrets to eating organic on a budget is to purchase produce that is in-season. So, for this breakfast idea, choose seasonal vegetables to make this tasty egg scramble. Not sure which veggies to choose? Here’s a combination we know you’ll love:

  • Organic Cage-Free Eggs
  • Organic Red Bell Pepper, chopped
  • Organic Grape Tomatoes, halved
  • Nature’s Promise organic arugula
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

For this organic breakfast idea, heat a nonstick pan on medium heat. Spray with cooking spray to make sure the eggs don’t stick. While the pan is heating, scramble your desired number of eggs in a bowl using a whisk.

Saute your bell peppers in the heated pan until they become tender. These take quite a bit longer to cook than the eggs, which is why it’s a good idea to get the peppers done first. After all, no one likes burnt eggs, right?

Next, pour the eggs over the peppers and add your tomatoes and green onions. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. You can also add shredded cheese (we recommend cheddar or pepper jack). Cook the eggs just like you would with typical scrambled eggs.

Once cooked, remove the egg scramble from the pan and top with arugula.

Remember, the key to this budget-friendly organic breakfast idea is choosing vegetables that are in-season. For instance, both bell peppers and tomatoes are in-season during summer and fall. Arugula, on the other hand, is in-season from spring to fall.

Organic Breakfast Idea #2: Berry Banana Oatmeal with Honey

Oatmeal is a breakfast classic and is the go-to choice for many parents in a time crunch. Not only is it a nutritious option, but oatmeal is also very quick to make. By itself, oatmeal isn’t necessarily the most flavorful dish, but with the right additions, it is absolutely delish! Which leads us to our next organic breakfast idea - berry banana oatmeal with honey.

Want to give it a try? You’ll only need five (maybe six) ingredients, so it’s pretty inexpensive, too! Here’s what you’ll need to pick up from your local Food Lion:

  • Organic Oatmeal
  • Organic Strawberries
  • Organic Blueberries
  • Organic Bananas
  • Nature's Promise Organic Honey
  • Your favorite chopped nuts (optional)

Crafting this organic breakfast idea is simple! First, cook your oatmeal according to the instructions on the package. While the oatmeal is cooking, wash the berries and start chopping. The blueberries can stay whole, but you’ll need to chop the green tops off of your strawberries and slice them. Also, remove the peel from the banana and cut into ¼ inch slices.

Once your oatmeal is done, top it with fruit and drizzle with honey. And, if you want to add a little crunch (and some extra protein), sprinkle some chopped nuts on top. We recommend almonds or pecans for this recipe.

Organic Breakfast Idea #3: Mexican Breakfast Bowl

If your family loves to eat a heartier meal in the morning, this organic breakfast idea is perfect (and it won’t break the bank)! Made with eggs, potatoes, peppers and cheese, this dish is a nod to Mexican cuisine, especially if you choose to add black beans and top with organic salsa.

Ready to start cooking? You’ll need the following ingredients for this Mexican breakfast bowl:

  • Organic Cage-Free Eggs
  • Oraganic Red Potatoes
  • Organic Red and Green Bell Peppers
  • Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • Nature's Promise Organic Black Beans, canned (optional)
  • Nature's Promise Organic Salsa (optional)
  • Nature's Promise Organic Olive Oil
  • Salt & Pepper to taste

To make this organic breakfast idea, start by preheating your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Chop your potatoes into ½ inch pieces and place into a small bowl. Drizzle olive oil on the potatoes and sprinkle salt and pepper. Toss the potatoes until they are well coated. Scatter them onto a baking sheet and bake in the oven until golden brown.

Tip: Use a spatula to flip the potatoes when they are about halfway cooked to make sure they are evenly browned.

While the potatoes are baking, heat a nonstick pan over medium heat. Once heated, add 2 Tbsp of organic olive oil. Next, chop your red and green bell peppers into ½ inch pieces and place them in the pan. Cook until they’re nice and tender.

If you choose to add black beans, drain and rinse them before adding to the pan with the bell peppers. Season the mixture with salt and pepper.

In a bowl, scramble your eggs (plan on 2 to 3 eggs per person). Pour your eggs into the pan and cook with the peppers and beans. Once cooked, remove the pan from the heat.

Layer your Mexican breakfast bowl however you would like. You can even get your kids involved and let their creativity shine. Or, if you want a little direction, try this:

  1. Layer your egg scramble at the bottom.
  2. Top with breakfast potatoes.
  3. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
  4. Add a spoonful of organic salsa on top.

And voila! You have a deliciously-assembled Mexican breakfast bowl.

Organic French toast? Yes, it’s possible! How sweet is that? This organic breakfast idea is sure to be an instant family favorite. It’s decadent, filling and topped with nutritious berries! Plus, it’s quick and easy to make and very affordable. In fact, it only requires eight ingredients, including the syrup! Here’s the full list:

Have all of your ingredients ready to go? Let's get cooking!

Organic Breakfast Idea #5: Orange Banana Smoothie

Our last organic breakfast idea is a fantastic option when you need to take your meal on the go. Made with oranges and bananas, this recipe is tangy, tropical and packed with vitamin C and potassium. Now, get your blender ready and head to the grocery store to pick up these ingredients for your organic orange banana smoothies:

  • Organic Valencia oranges
  • Organic Bananas
  • Nature's promise Organic Reduced-Fat Milk
  • Nature's Promise Organic Greek Yogurt (plain or vanilla)
  • Organic Agave Nectar
  • Ice (optional)

Now that you have all of your smoothie ingredients, it’s time to get blending! First, peel and chop your banana. You’ll need a half of a banana per smoothie. Add the banana to the blender. Then, squeeze the juice from your oranges until you have ½ cup of fresh orange juice. You can also use pre-squeezed organic orange juice if you want to save some time.

Next, add a ¼ cup of Greek yogurt and a teaspoon of agave nectar. If you like your smoothies frosty, add some ice cubes to the blender as well. Then, blend until smooth.

TIP: If you choose plain Greek yogurt, add a little extra agave if your smoothie isn’t quite sweet enough.
