Host with the Most Unique Ways to Celebrate This Year

Enjoying the holidays is about getting together with the people you love the most. But, hosting doesn't have to mean putting on a full meal. Often, everyone is busy and going to multiple events, so hosting in a unique is a fresh way to greet the season. Try these ideas for unique parties this season.

Friendsgiving

You've heard the term before. For those far from home or without family get-togethers to attend, Friendsgiving is a way to celebrate with the connections important to you. Often, friends also get together even when they're going home, just because it's great to spend time with all the important people in your life. Host the traditional Thanksgiving meal yourself or just make the turkey and ask everyone to bring sides and desserts. If you're hosting pre-Thanksgiving Day, consider something opposite like a pizza party or taco bar so that no one gets burned out on holiday fare.

Appetizers and Cocktails

To lighten the load, consider apps and drinks. When hosting an appetizer party, think about half cold apps, half hot, and then something sweet. For example do a cheese tray, veggies and dip, and shrimp cocktail along with potstickers, cocktail meatballs, and stuffed mushrooms. Add a tray of fruit, and you're set. Offer beer and wine or a full bar if you like. You can also create a featured drink and mix it up in batches. Keep pitchers full in the refrigeration and replenish throughout the night. Parties like this can last just a couple of hours or longer.

Leftovers Party or The Day After Party

Everyone loves leftovers from the Thanksgiving feast. Hosting a party the day after or that weekend is an ideal way to use up leftovers and extend the festivities. Invite guests to bring their leftovers. Ask everyone to let you know what they are bringing so that you can augment where needed.

Dessert Party

Tis the season for pie. With pies, cakes, and cookies galore, dessert parties give you a chance to indulge that sweet tooth without going overboard. Set up desserts buffet style and make sure to offer coffee. The timing for a dessert party should be a little later so that guests have time to eat dinner before the party begins.
