Directions

  1. Heat the oil in a 12-inch sauté pan over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, onion, and garlic. Cook for 5 minutes or until lightly browned and cooked through, crumbling the ground beef as it cooks.
  2. Stir in the pasta sauce and water. Bring the liquid to a boil over medium-high heat
  3. Stir in the radiatore pasta. Reduce the heat to medium. Cover and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the pasta is cooked to the desired doneness.
  4. Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and red pepper flakes (if using). Taste and adjust the seasoning.
  5. Using a spoon or small ice cream scoop, arrange dollops of the ricotta cheese in a circle on top of the pasta. Cover and heat for 2 minutes.
  6. Remove the pan from the heat. Allow to stand, covered, for 5 minutes.
  7. Use a spatula to remove individual servings. Garnish each with a sprinkling of pepper and a fresh basil sprig.
