There’s a lot to look forward to in the month of June - Father’s Day, the first day of summer and of course, Chocolate Ice Cream Day. And to celebrate the day dedicated to one of our favorite frozen treats, we’re exploring some new ways to enjoy chocolate ice cream

So, before you start scooping, we have four easy dessert ideas to take your chocolate ice cream to the next level. From fresh toppings and edible bowls to creative ice cream desserts, your family is sure to love these sweet spins on one of their favorite summertime treats.

What’s the scoop on our easy dessert ideas? Read on to find out!

Rice Krispie Bowls, spoons, sprinkles, whippes cream

Krispie Treat Ice Cream Bowls

Instead of a regular bowl to enjoy your ice cream in, how about making an edible bowl out of another kid-friendly dessert - Rice Krispies treats? To craft these Krispie Treat Ice Cream Bowls, simply whip up a classic batch of marshmallow cereal treats and line a bowl in food wrap. Then, press the treats into the bowl, freeze for one hour until firm, remove from the bowl and top with a scoop of chocolate ice cream.

Want to get even more creative with your Krispie Treat Bowls? Try mixing in chocolate chips, sprinkles or shredded coconut into your marshmallow cereal mixture before molding into the bowl.

Fresh Fruit Toppings, chocolate Ice cream, choclate syurp, fresh strawberries

Fresh Fruit Toppings

Sprinkles, whipped cream and caramel sauce are all delicious toppings, but have you ever tried fresh fruit with your bowl of chocolate ice cream? Slices of fruit add some freshness, but certain varieties pair especially well with chocolate, including strawberries, raspberries, cherries, pineapple and banana.

If you choose strawberries, raspberries or cherries, some chocolate syrup drizzled on top and chocolate sprinkles are the perfect combination. But, if you choose pineapple, try adding some shredded coconut. And if banana slices are your fruit of choice, mix in some peanut butter chips with your chocolate ice cream.

Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches, candy, cookies, ice cream, sprinkles

Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches

This next easy dessert idea is something the whole family can have fun making together. You’ll need cookies - either store-bought or homemade - (sugar, chocolate chip and peanut butter are great choices), chocolate ice cream and a variety of your favorite toppings, like chocolate candies, chopped peanuts or almonds, crushed graham crackers, etc.

Now, it’s time to assemble your Cookie Ice Cream Sandwiches! Start by putting a scoop of ice cream on one of the cookies. Spread to even out the layer of ice cream, then top with another cookie. Press lightly to avoid cracking the cookies.

Next, pour each topping into their own bowl and roll the cookie sandwich until the chocolate ice cream is covered with your topping of choice. Once they’re all assembled, either eat immediately or cover with food wrap and store in the freezer. Then, when you’re ready to enjoy them, let sit at room temperature for a few minutes to allow the cookies to soften a bit.

Ice Cream Pie, mixing bowl, pie shell, spatula

Ice Cream Pie

Our last easy dessert idea is great for sharing and only requires two ingredients to make it - a premade pie crust and chocolate ice cream. But, if you want to add some crunch, try adding some white chocolate chips and chopped walnuts.

To whip up this Chocolate Ice Cream Pie, start by scooping your favorite chocolate ice cream into a mixing bowl and allow it to soften. Then, mix in the white chocolate chips and walnuts; although this step is optional if you want to skip these ingredients.

And last, but not least, spoon the ice cream into the pie crust, spread smooth and place in the freezer for two hours or until firm. Then, top with whipped cream before serving and enjoy!
