It's easy to create a wide variety of tasty breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals around the campfire. Then, for a quick sweet dessert whenever you have hot coals, roast some marshmallows and make s'mores.

Rained out of your camping trip? It happens. But at any time of the year, you can always make your kids happy by rustling up some marshmallows or s'mores in your kitchen oven.

Campfire Breakfasts

A simple approach is to bring along cold cereal and milk for starting your days. But you can also prepare delicious egg dishes, breakfast sandwiches, potato-and-sausage hash, French toast, and pancakes over the fire.

For example, liven up the morning by building a zesty Tex-Mex omelet from eggs, tortillas, chorizo, cheddar cheese, onion, sour cream, and salsa, suggests RVshare.

Campfire Lunches

Cold sandwiches, grilled hotdogs, and burgers aren't the only things you can make for the midday meal.

For instance, take fresh berries — whether picked by the kids or purchased at a local Food Lion — and combine them with Nutella for a juicy and vitamin-packed campfire meal.

Campfire Dinners

Although delicious to most folks, standard campfire fare such as grilled steak or chicken can get tiresome for just about anyone after a time. Alternatively, think about different foil dinners for camping. One enticing camping dinner idea is to cook salmon, potatoes, and veggies in foil packets over the fire, notes Allrecipes.com.

How to Roast Marshmallows at the Campfire

Use a pointed ha dwood or metal stick about as long as an adult's arm. Make sure the marshmallow goes all the way through the stick to prevent it from falling into the fire.

Roast the marshmallow over hot coals, rotating the stick for even cooking. If you place the marshmallow directly in the fire instead, you'll end up with a black layer of charcoal.

S'mores

To make the gooey dessert known as the s'more, just sandwich a cooked Kraft jet-puffed marshmallow and a chocolate bar between two graham crackers.

How to Roast Marshmallows in the Oven at Home

To toast marshmallows in the oven, place them on a baking sheet, set the oven to broil, and then cook them to whatever hue of brown — or black — your family desires.

Expecting company? The oven broiler is also a great way to cook marshmallows in bulk, according to Food Network. But make sure to keep a close watch on the marshmallows, because they can burn quite quickly.

Baking S'mores in the Oven

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Put graham squares at the bottom of an 8-inch pan and top with 36 marshmallow halves. Sprinkle with chopped chocolate bars and finish with remaining marshmallow halves on top, placed cut-sides down, according to Snackworks. Then cook until done to your satisfaction.
